So I wrote an overview of what happens in the game I made so the story is not completely gated by gameplay...!
I tried to keep it as short and to the point as possible, and it may be missing some character descriptions bc I never posted an organized list of that on deviantart hhhh
Well anyway, if you read it, I hope it's some what interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lucifer, who took responsibility for looking over "Virtue" ever since his creation, suddenly appears in the 1st Heaven. Virtue followed him out of curiosity, but didn't expect Lucifer to threaten him of what he is about to commence. Whatever Lucifer was about to do, may cause Virtue to detest him to the point of wanting to shatter his soul.
At this point, it's unknown what opinions Virtue has of the situation. Virtue manages to slip into the Heavenly Armory in the 5th Heaven before Lucifer commences his rebellion. Virtue seizes a Soul Weapon, a specialized weapon that can shatter a soul with a single swing. However, Gadreel appears before he can escape. Virtue warns him of Lucifer's rebellion, but Gadreel doesn't believe him. After Virtue reveals the nature of his powers in battle, Gadreel realizes this is the angel kept under Lucifer. Having a feeling that it wouldn't be right to take him down in place for Lucifer himself, Gadreel took a chance and let Virtue go.
Virtue travels down the Prime Dimension / Path to Empyrean. He needs a way to survive any further encounters with the Higher Order before reaching Lucifer. He encounters Remiel, who is still guiding souls to Empyrean in the midst of war. Remiel attacks first, sensing hostility towards the souls passing by. Adriel shortly appears afterwards, crushing the physical bridge to Empyrean in response to seeing Remiel in battle. Remiel seems less and less intent to keep fighting until Virtue brandishes the Soul Weapon and lands a hit on Adriel. Virtue is inexperienced with handling the sword so Adriel's soul is only moderately damaged. Remiel steps between them and puts up a barrier. Virtue tries another swing with the sword and propels the blade through both Remiel and the barrier. Lying on the undamaged part of the path, Adriel is barely able to move, and Remiel, seemingly less injured, stays down as Virtue bats a soul out of the sky. "This soul will do. Don't worry, from what I can tell, it didn't deserve heaven anyway."
Virtue then appears in the Dimension of Hidden Keys in the 8th Heaven. The area appears to be in a mess, but there's no way other angels could've come here. Only the Higher Order knows how to get to the Hidden Dimension and Lucifer taught Virtue everything he knows. Crippled Ophis reveals himself as Virtue notices the Key of the Abyss is missing from where it's supposed to be. They fight until Ophis abruptly disappears in a dark smoke after being on par with Virtue. In the down time, Virtue reasons Abaddon woke up and took the key. His situation just got more dire, but there's still another solution. He opens a rift in the Hidden Dimension, only for Ophis to emerge in his more powerful form.
Ophis uses the Key to Hell's Gates to change dimensions. Ophis forces Virtue through all 9 Circles of Hell and attempts to seal him in the 9th Circle. To both of their surprise, Virtue is unaffected by the field effect that was suppose to weaken him apparently present in Helel's Domain, and seems to be able to recharge faster in the darkness. Virtue breaks from Ophis’s seal and shatters all the gold holding Ophis's body and soul together.
Virtue approaches Ophis’s deteriorating body. Virtue’s disguise as a low tier angel fades, revealing black coloured armour. He converses one-sidedly with Ophis, pointing out how it’s unjust that Ophis was removed from the Higher Order after he was crippled, and how the Lord really dislikes imperfections before his eyes in the Heavenly Halls. Virtue tells Ophis that they are very similar. Despite being under Lucifer, he was never allowed in the Heavenly Halls either. Virtue is so flawed that the Lord stopped creating angels all together. He suggests that they, along with the other fallen, escape the abyss Abaddon will summon using the Key to Hell’s Gates. Ophis doesn’t have to be kept out of sight in this lonely dimension anymore. Ophis remains silent, his body just shakes slightly. Virtue offers the soul he obtained from earlier. The mortal soul can restore Ophis’s former self. Unfortunately, he was only taunting. Virtue finishes with his last words and fully shatters Ophis’s soul. He leaves the Hidden Dimension with the Key to Hell’s Gates and Solomon’s Key.
Lucifer can be seen looking over the 9th Heaven, Gadreel by his side. Virtue, back in his original clothing, smiles gently as he sees him. Before he could go any closer, Anafiel blocks his way, a rapier in hand. Anafiel sees through Virtue’s getup and questions why he wasn’t tasked to eliminate him eons ago. Why give him the chance to show his true colours? Anafiel then addresses Virtue by his classified title: Prince of Darkness.
Anafiel forces Virtue down from the 9th Heaven to the 8th, then to the 7th. Fighting Virtue pushes Anafiel’s behaviour to become more and more unstable. Anafiel propels his rapier that he’s been using to cast spells through Virtue’s chest. Virtue feels his soul crack — Anafiel’s rapier is the same as his sword. Anafiel threatens that if he resists again, he’ll shatter his soul. Virtue summons the mortal soul to heal himself but a low tier angel steals it out of his hand from under his arm — Anafiel’s Throne.
Anafiel goes into Judgment mode, appearing as a dark figure in dark clothing several times taller than Virtue. Anafiel’s first test reveals Virtue’s strive to protect Lucifer from harm. Virtue’s resolve increases against Anafiel. He’s now able to maintain his dark barrier longer in exchange for less area. Virtue shatters Anafiel's row of eyes to stop the illusion. Anafiel’s second test reveals that Virtue is willing to destroy himself trying to reach Lucifer. Virtue shatters Anafiel’s mirror holding him back. Anafiel’s third test lets him know who Virtue has encountered up until now. Virtue breaks free from Anafiel's seal to keep him from digging further. Destroying the charms seems to have weakened Anafiel, reducing him back to his previous state. But Anafiel closes the distance between them, inching closer, laying down countless runes to seal Virtue. Virtue keeps up his shield and goes closer as well. Upon contact, the opposing energies create an explosion, blasting both of them away.
Virtue flies out of the clouds created by the blast and he notices the abyss below him in the 3rd Heaven. He searches for Lucifer, but he’s nowhere to be seen. A white feather floating down slowly into the abyss catches his eye — it’s Lucifer’s. Distracted by what that could mean, a trigger is pulled and a single bullet shatters Virtue’s soul. In the confusion, Virtue traces the projectile back to Anafiel, pointing a second Soul Weapon at him. Like Anafiel would be taken down by a virtue class. That was for Ophis of the Heavenly Halls. Anafiel’s expression was enraged, but tears can also be seen in his eyes.Virtue smiles confidently despite his defeat. He closes his eyes and lets himself fall into the abyss.
